2018 Bullet Journal Setup

2018 Bullet Journal Setup

Hi guys, welcome back to my channel, I hope we’re all well Today, I’m setting up 2018 bullet journal. I made my first one last year and I posted about it on my blog. And I know a lot of you started one along with me, so this year, I thought I would film it as well for those of you who have asked about it and are interested I I use a Ryman’s A5 sketchbook I bought a lot of books last year until I found the one that I wanted to use for my 2017 bullet journal So I’m just going to use the same one again this year because I trusted it and it worked well for me. On my first page, I like to just have my name and contact info at the top and hopes that if I lose it someone will return it Naturally, I made a mistake on the first page, so I’m just covering it with paper which I think is just how bullet journaling is erased… 50% planning and 50% finding ways to cover up your mistakes I personally don’t bother with a key or anything because I don’t really think I’d use it So, my next page is just a table of contents. Theme-wise, I’ve decided to do borders on the top and the bottom of each page leaving space just in from the top corners to add titles and like, table of contents on the right here and simply just contents on the left For my yearly spread or future log, I really hated how empty it looked in my last one. So I decided to make this one bit deliberately empty-looking instead since I don’t intend to fill this up too much I decided to place the months in the middle and write my events on the same rows as the dates that they’re on. In my first bullet journal, sometimes the events would end up not being in chronological order. Say if I added a birthday and then later on in the year I ended up with another event that was before that day or in between dates. But then I wouldn’t have room to add it in so I wouldn’t do it all and I forgot things… …so I think this way will work quite nicely. I also do this thing at the back of the book where I have a ‘Waiting For…’ section where I keep on top of things I’ve ordered. So : the day I ordered, tracking numbers and what the thing is… I’ll also paperclip my receipts here, and then do my accounting monthly on the computer instead of on paper I was considering doing a Financer section in here, but I need it on my PC anyway, so I just do it this way instead For my monthly log, and I decided to go a little bit bigger with the calendar Initially, I didn’t really like the idea of splitting it up over two pages but the fact that it’s the weekend that ends up being on the other page is really nice. And, for each month or Important pages I like to add a little bit of washi tape at the edges So it’s just easy to find each section as I flip through the book, or you can see it from the side So since my favorite spreads in my first bullet journal, with the ones with photos and memories on them, This year I’ve decided that I’ll do more of that. I feel like it’s really nice to open up your journal and be greeted with something that makes you happy, as well as a huge list of work to do, kind of balances it out I have my tests and my goals for the month that I’ll go back and refer to when I’m writing up my tasks and goals for the following weeks This year, I’m trying to read more, so I’m gonna keep track of what book I’m reading on each monthly spread as well with the hopes that I can read a new one every month. At the top here this little gap worked out perfectly for adding these little slim post-it notes that I use. I have these laying on my desk. So I usually write down things like appointments, events, some reminders of things… And I usually just stick them on the side of my computer monitor, until I transfer them into my journal So this is just a nice little place for them to live So I drafted out a weekly spread and I made these little sections that I can use to visualize with, before I put pen to paper Obviously, I’m never gonna know the size of each to-do list or how it’s gonna look overall but I can get a general idea and I like to keep these just paper clips in the back of my book a A new addition to my weekly spreads is having the week across the top here This is where I’m gonna write my blog and YouTube plans for the week in In pencil or on post-it notes so I can move things around and this is all I really do and when I set up my weekly spread, I guess I do the tasks and the goals at the side, too But I don’t do like blogs for each day or anything because I never know how long or short each to-do list is gonna be I’d prefer to do that as the days go by But this is how my first week turned out, and I’m so happy with it I’m so pumped to have a new fresh bullet journal and for me to have a year of experience with using one and knowing exactly what I need this time round You can totally tell the difference like my first one now that I have this one. I hate the first one I think this one’s gonna be really cool, but then that’s it as always Thank you guys for watching, and I’ll speak to you next time

  8. This is so lovely! Really makes me want to try bullet journalling, but I just know I wouldn't be able to keep up with it. I'm also incredibly envious of your hand-writing. On another note, I knew that was a picture of Yugyeom from the blurred thumbnail and I think that says a lot about me as a person.. :')

  9. I have been following for like 3 years already and never knew you are a bullet journal sister? I loved this! It's so pretty! And those pictures with Emma, Sophie and Marzia… so cute! <3 I really missed your videos >u<

  10. You're so neat! I want to do this too. Yugyeom and Gdragon are my bias in their group so i love the photos as well 😍

  13. Nice! This year I'm doing a small passport sized bullet journal. I couldn't keep setting up such a big page in 2017.

  14. I think I might just try it today! (just for January maybe) thanks Emma for this video, you make it look so much more manageable and less daunting than the images I see on Tumblr.

  15. I really want to try this but I always worry I'll have nothing to put in it.. Yours looks so pretty.. I love the sleek design … Where did you get your notebook from?? its exactly the kind of thing I love x

  16. I've never done a journal before but i might do one this year cuz i really liked your idea! Will add some more things tho as days go on … btw Emma i don't know if u still watch Korean drama but have you seen "i'm not a robot" i really recommend it! 18. I’m low-key impressed that I could tell it was Yugyeom from the blurry thumbnail haha. Beautiful journal, Emma πŸ’•

  19. My first time this year πŸ™‚ I did an ec planner last year and it was a lot more maintenance than expected. I'm doing a minimalistic style with little to no color. I'm hoping it will revive my artistic self.

  20. This is really cute! I love the idea of adding pictures in. Also you have great taste in music as i see. Emma fighting

  21. These are so so pretty. If crafts and art didnt upset me so much i’d definitely do it. I just get upset when things aren’t the way i want so i tried to avoid any types of crafts djdjdjdj 😭

  22. How brilliant are you for doing this? It looks great. I used to keep a similar diary when I was younger(though not as organised) and I always look back with such fondness at all the memories I'd actually forgotten. It's a lovely thing to do. I hope 2018 is great for you x

  23. Of course, I didn't started a new bu-jo this year because I love the model of my actual one and it wasn't finished yet but I can't wait for my new set of mildliners to arrive so that I can start doing my old patterns again. Are you a part of the tumblr studyblr community aswell ?

  24. This video inspired me in many waysπŸ˜‡Thank you so much Emma,do videos like this more often they are fun, interesting & enjoyable😊.I started my own is very handy and distracting to use but I'm very happy.Anyone who's reading this defenetly try it our even though you mightnt be a fan of doing things like thisπŸ˜‰xx

  25. I just started my first bullet journal this year and im still getting used to it but it's an amazing way to keep everything organized. Loved your video, it's really really helpful!

  26. If you're trying to read more I can really recommend using Goodreads, being able to track your reading is super motivating, I went from reading 10 books a year to 75

  27. This is so cute! Definitely inspired me – I think I'm going to do my own take and start a doodle journal so I can see when I'm working but also get back into drawing everyday πŸ™‚

  28. This inspired me to journal. I got a plain journal and all the markers I have to create what you made! So far so good. So so excited. Making my ocd self so happy right now πŸ™‚

  29. You're so patient and artistic! When I try to do this it's too messy so I buy Pre printed ones. Yours is amazing like you ❀️

  30. I love when people I like (let it be the person itself or the content they create) get into something I also enjoy! We started bullet journalling about the same time (I didn't even knnew it back then) and I think your new bujo setup turned ot great! I also like the stuff you used (mildliners ftw :D)
    Happy planning!! β™₯

  35. Love this so cute! I want to try doing this but i feel like i would forget to fill it out and it would end up being a waist of time. Maybe I'll try it out for next school year.

  36. I occasionally go back to this video, because it is so nice how you fill in your bullet journal :D. I started with mine at the end of 2017 and I had to push myself to use it regularly. But once you know how to use it, you can't live without! I hope you will post a video with your 2019 setup! Would love to see that <3
