3.7 Forum

New forum features in Moodle 3.7. With
the support and collaboration of the Moodle users Association Moodle HQ has
improved accessibility in the forum activity and added significant new
features. You can add discussions on the same page and quickly reply inline; it’s
possible to star and sort discussions and teachers can reply privately and
manually lock threads. Here our student is creating a new forum
discussion. When he clicks the Add a new discussion topic the page does not
change and he can type in his message quickly and easily. If he wants to access
the full forum display for example to add an attachment he clicks Advanced. Replies can also be made inline as our
teacher is doing here and anyone with the relevant capability can send a
private reply by ticking the box. If you’re involved in the private
discussion you’ll see a message that the reply is private: other participants
won’t see it. Discussions may also be starred from the
three dots to the right or by clicking the star as our student is doing here,
and it’s possible also to sort discussions. Additionally teachers can pin an
important discussion from the three dots and they can manually lock discussions
which then show a padlock. To sumarise: new forum features include
inline posting, starring, sorting, manually locking and private replies.
