Fifteen Questions about David Brooks | Forum Fifteen

Welcome back to the Forum Fifteen. Thanks for tuning in. Today we’re asking fifteen questions of Karmen Kodia, a communications student from Örebro,
Sweden about our upcoming forum. Hey Karmen, how’s it going? [Karmen:] Hello. Good, how are you? [Interviewer:] Awesome, thanks for letting
us follow you around for a bit today. First things first, why are we finding you here today? [Karmen:] I’m a lighting technician here at BYUtv. [Interviewer:] What’s one you’d use
to describe BYU Forums? [Karmen:] Mmm. Motivational. [Interviewer:] Who’s BYU’s next forum speaker? [Karmen:] It’s David Brooks. [Interviewer:] Why are you smiling when you say that? [Karmen:] Oh he is awesome. He’s a best-selling
author and a columnist for The New York Times. [Interviewer:] Sweet, how did you learn about him? [Karmen:] In one of my sociology classes,
I read a couple articles of his and he helped me want to be a better person. [Interviewer:] What is something you admire about him? [Karmen:] Oh he raises awareness about social issues and he helps people take a closer and different
look at American politics and culture. [Interviewer:] Who is the most famous person you think would be jealous of you that you get
to hear David Brooks speak? [Karmen:] I’d say Oprah. [Interviewer:] Since you’re from Sweden, what’s one Swedish word you’d use to describe Brooks? [Karmen:] Mmm. Handlingsinriktade. [Interviewer:] What does that even mean? [Karmen:] It means action-oriented. Oh
somebody’s calling me, my boss. Hi Steve. [Steve:] Hey Karmen, would you rather
have a lifetime supply of bacon delivered hot and crispy to your front porch
each morning or meet David Brooks? [Karmen:] I’m not a huge fan of bacon,
so I’d choose David Brooks. Even if I was, I’d choose David Brooks anyways. [Steve:] Good answer. [Karmen:] Bye. [Interviewer:] If you did get to meet David Brooks,
what would you ask him? [Karmen:] How can I become such a
great writer like you? [Interviewer:] Did you know there’s a question and answer session with him after the forum? [Karmen:] Oh no that’s really cool. [Interviewer:] Are you going to go?
[Karmen:] Of course, I’ll be there now. [Interviewer:] If you had three seconds to show
David Brooks a random talent you have for him to remember you by, what would you do? [Karmen:] I can make my eyes go really big. [Interviewer:] Well Karmen, it’s been great talking to you. We’ve arrived at our fifteenth and final question. What’s the last thing you’d want to
say to your fellow BYU students about this opportunity to hear David Brooks speak? [Karmen:] If you have no idea who he is, just come.
David Brooks will bless your life and you’ll be happy you got to see him here at BYU. [Interviewer:] Awesome, it’s been memorable Karmen. Thanks again and we’ll catch you later. [Karmen:] Oh I’m lactose intolerant. So, Mikaela.
I’ll catch you at the forum though.
