How to Add a Favicon to Your WordPress Blog

Hello and welcome to the WPBeginner. In this
video you’ll learn how to add a favicon to your WordPress blog The favicon or favicon is a little icon in your web browser and it’s specific to each site. Having a custom favicon for your site gives added
recognition for your brand and helps it make look more professional. So how do you get one on your site? First you need to is create an png file that is 32pxX32px or 16pxX16px. You can do this in photoshop or any other image editing software. Next, you have to convert that image to an
.ico format and the easiest way to do that is to go to the favicon generator, upload
your newly created image and click create icon once it has been converted, you can click
download favIcon now you need to upload your favicon to your
root directory using FTP. And from your website dashboard, look for
appearance–>editor area because we are going to make some changes because we need to look for header.php file on the right. You want to add this code to the header file.
Click on the link to see the code. Make sure you use your website address in the code. Now if changing the code in your theme makes
you nervous, you can also download a plugin called Insert Headers and Footers and paste
the code in the header section like this. Additionally if you don’t want to deal with FTP, then
you can use the All in One Favicon plugin. Once installed and activated, go to settings
and click upload next to the ICO front end…find your ico file and upload it. once you are done with that you should start to see your new favicon in action I hope you liked this video and found it helpful. If you did, click on the like button below
