I’m Jon from the Google Help team. A few of us wanted to talk to you about some
exciting things that we have coming up, and that’s the latest in Google Help forums.
Many of you have already been using the forums in most Google products to talk with other
users about issues concerns, questions, suggestions or just about your experience that you’ve
had so far. These forums have proven to be one of the
best ways for you to find quick answers to most of your product questions.
We also rely on what you talk about in these forums to help us find out about bugs, and
develop our products the way you like. We’ve taken a hard look at the ways our forums
have been working up until now and developed a new system that has some features and improvements
that we think you’re going to like. Jen, do you a favorite thing about the new
forums?>>JEN: Of course.
Hi, guys. My favorite thing is that the new forums are
in a question and answer format. If you need help with something, you can simply
post a new question. Other users will then be able to post answers
to that question. As these posts are read, the person who asked
the question will have the ability to mark specific answers as the best answer.
You can then search by which questions have already been answered, so you’re sure to get
your answer quickly. It makes the whole process really efficient.>>ADAM: One thing you can use your profile
to do is display how active you are in a forum. You may know that we already recognize our
top contributors. With these improvements, we’ve created a dynamic
system that notices when someone’s been particularly helpful or active, and rewards them with new
forum privileges.>>BRENNA: Another thing we hope you’ll like
is an improved profile. In our new profiles, you can include cool
pictures and enter information about yourself. If you’re a member of multiple forums, you
won’t have to make a new profile for each one.
The information you save there will be visible on any product forum on which you’re active.>>JON: These are just a few of the features
we’ve added to our forums. There are lots of others you’ll find as we
roll the system out to all of our Google products. And we hope that you like them, and we look
forward to getting your feedback. Tell us what you like and what you’d like
changed. Start a discussion on the forum or attach
to a discussion that’s already happening. And we’ll be checking in to see what’s working
for you and make changes accordingly.
