Introducing the NHS Youth Forum

Introducing the NHS Youth Forum

Powerful
Inspiring Personal
Empowering and awesome. The NHS Youth Forum is a bunch of ordinary
people with ordinary lives but really complex experiences with the NHS. It’s all young people aged between the ages
of 14 to 25 and they all come together to try and fight for the rights of young people
and how their lives are being affected by the NHS All the members come together to work with
NHS England the Department of Health and Social Care and Public Health England to create change
through that youth voice We kind of partner with them on a lot of issues
so that when we go to meetings we have a coordinated approach and we can push their interests and
the interests that we’ve heard from young people together. It’s allowed me to be able to stand up for
the young people within my local area if they have got experiences of the NHS and healthcare It’s been a really inspirational experience
the opportunity to meet and work with loads of other young people who have had a range
of experiences in enlightening the health service has really broadened my own knowledge
and my own perspective But what this platform has done for me is
not just giving me a scholarly understanding but it’s also given me a scholarly activism
somewhere where I can actually do things rather than just be passionate for it and where I
can actually understand it rather than just live it It’s really motivated me to make positive
change more in my local area for other young people I feel like I am making a difference and I
am actually contributing something I think the friendships I’ve made I didn’t
really think that I’d make friends I thought I’d come into work and I made incredible friendships
it’s had a hugely positive impact If you wanted to find out about the NHS Youth
