Jimmy Fallon Reveals the 2019 Doodle for Google National Winner

-This year, I got to help judge
the Doodle 4 Google contest, where students from across
the country submit a doodle for a chance to have it featured
on the Google home page. You know how they change the
home page every now and then? Yeah. Right now, we’re going to
announce who won. Please welcome the 2019
Doodle 4 Google national winner, Arantza Peña Popo,
ladies and gentlemen. ♪♪
[ Cheers and applause ] Oh, my goodness.
[ Cheers and applause ] Look at that.
Arantza, there you go. Yeah. No, no, no. Please sit.
That’s for you. Arantza, welcome to the show. And will you tell everyone
what Doodle 4 Google is and how you got involved? -Doodle 4 Google — it’s this
really cool art contest where students get to
submit their drawings to be displayed on
the Google home page. -Yeah. -And this year’s theme was
“When I Grow Up, I Hope…” And, well, you were
one of the judges this year, and, well, I won, so thank you. -I chose you. Yeah.
I loved yours. I’m just one of the judges.
I know. But, you know,
I was one of the judges, but I looked at a whole bunch of
great doodles, I guess. But, I mean,
honestly, it was beautiful art. So, let me just
tell you some stats here just to make you feel good
about yourself. Your doodle was chosen out of
over 200,000 submissions. [ Cheers and applause ]
200,000. It’s going to be featured on
the Google home page all day starting at
midnight tonight, so… [ Cheers and applause ]
Yeah. So you will see it.
Millions of you will see it. You won a $50,000 tech package
for your high school, where you just graduated
as valedictorian. -Yep.
[ Cheers and applause ] -You won a $30,000
college scholarship, which you’re using towards
USC this fall. [ Cheers and applause ] Now, “When I Grow Up, I Hope…”
was the theme. And what did you come up with? -Well, I know, like, at first,
I honestly wanted to do, like, an invention or a career, but I wanted to make it
more personal to me, so I decided to make it
about my mother. You know, she’s made so many
sacrifices for me, so I kind of wanted to show
me paying it back in the future. So, it’s practically — You
know, she cares so much for me and sacrificed so much,
so I want to pay — well, just care for her in the
future and make her life better in the future,
like she did for me. -That’s so sweet. I want to shout her out
a little bit. Your mom is in
the audience tonight. Maria, are you out there?
There’s mom right there. [ Cheers and applause ] Alright. You must be
very, very, very proud. It is time to see your
Google doodle. Let’s take a look. Here we go.
[ Drumroll ] Curtain open. Look at this!
Oh, my goodness! Come on. ♪♪
[ Cheers and applause ] And look at that.
Now, I loved it. I loved it.
Yeah, you can go there. I loved it because
I’m assuming that is a picture of your mother
and you up top? -It’s in the family room. Yeah, it’s just, like, hanging
in the family room at home. -And then,
underneath the painting is you caring for your mother. -Yeah. It’s like I flipped
the switch, practically. Yeah. -Dude, I lost it.
I go, “Oh, yeah, I got it.” [ Cheers and applause ]
Your mom — Yeah. Giving back to mom. Millions of people will be
seeing this tomorrow. Congratulations to you.
-Thank you so much. -Again, I really —
Congratulations. Arantza Peña Popo, everybody.
Good luck at USC.
