Locating Newspaper Articles: By Title

Locating Newspaper Articles: By Title

>>This video will demonstrate how to carry
out a title-specific newspaper article search using the Humber Libraries website. This type of search will come in handy when
you have the citation information for an article available. That is, the article title, the author’s last
name, and the publication. You might find this information in your course
reading list. To get started, visit the library website:
library.humber.ca The first step is to navigate to the “News”
content type page. To do so, we’ll click on “More Options” below
the Discover search box. Clicking “More Options” opens an additional
window where we will then click on the “Content Type” tab at the top, and then navigate down
to the link that says “News”. This takes us to the “News” content type page. At the top of this page, you’ll see a dedicated
News search box. Down below, a list of databases that provide
access to Canadian and International newspaper and other media articles. To search for a newspaper article by title,
we’ll use the “Find News” search box. Start by typing in the title of the article
you’re looking for, and then click find. Just as with other Discover searches, our
results will open up in a new page. Typically, the article you’re looking for
should be one of the top results. If not, be sure to check your spelling or
try adding in some other information from the citation – such as the author’s last name,
or the publication. In this example, the article I’m looking for
is the first result in my list. To open that article to read it, simply click
on its title. In a new window, our article will open up. Now that the article is open on screen, you
can save it as a PDF, email it, print it, or read it on the screen. That’s it! Those are all the steps you’ll need to follow
to access your newspaper course readings this semester. As always, don’t hesitate to visit the library
to ask for help if you need it.
