RSM Sustainability Forum 2018

RSM Sustainability Forum 2018

DORY GRANDIA: The word “sustainability”,
if you would ask someone on the street, or a hundred people, what does that mean? You will get a hundred different answers. Particularly when you factor in that the Sustainable
Development Goals, which are part of RSM’s mission to be a force for positive change,
are not simple problems. We should have a sustainability forum every
day actually. JESSICA THOMAS: I think some of the key
aspects when it comes to sustainable management, are understanding the power of collaboration. Sometimes it is critical to bring together
people who may not necessarily be a part of the conversation. GIANNI LORENZATO: It is essential that
we look at different sources of capital to go into economic development, into addressing
climate problems and any other issue that falls in the broad sector of sustainable development. ANOUK MEESTER: It starts with the individuals,
they push the retailers, they push the government. I think it starts in this classroom. ANNE MESGUICH: What I learned from the
breakout session is that you can somehow monetize impact, and I think that is really important
because money is the way we talk about business and the way we do business. GIANNI LORENZATO: I would encourage every
student to try to learn very concrete skills. An expert in engineering, in marketing, in
finance. And then apply those skills to sustainable
development. JEROEN RIJPKEMA: I think we will all go
away with the message that we have to take ownership of the change ourselves. JERWIN THOLEN: I think it’s lovely that
we have the SDGs, the Sustainable Development Goals, which also set the direction much clearer. JESSICA THOMAS: I have hope that we can
ignite system change, because of you. GIANNI LORENZATO: Young people want to
find a roles for themselves, whether it’s in business or in international organizations
or in government in addressing sustainability and I think that is the main reason for hope. JESSICA THOMAS: The future business leaders
of tomorrow give me hope.
