Small-town entrepreneurs reach global customers

(gentle instrumental music) – You drive past the cemetery. You go down the hill. You pass the one exit. You go on the dirt road and just keep going to
the end of the drive. We’re the only house
along the way. (laughing) (torch clicks) I don’t need to have a
traditional business space. (tool whirring) I can basically do it
from wherever I want, even if it’s the middle of the woods. – We are in Fairfield, Iowa. – It’s pretty far away from any major metropolitan areas. – The population is about 9,500 people, so it’s always surprising to see what interesting businesses on Amazon are hidden in all the different nooks and crannies around town. (gentle instrumental music) – I was able to invent
a proprietary enzyme in my kitchen sink. (zipper closing) (liquid spraying) I started a line of natural lice treatment and prevention products. – Bye, Mom. – Bye, buddy. love you. Now today we’re Logic Products, no longer just LiceLogic, and we have four lines on Amazon. (tool whirring) (metal clacking) – I make jewelry. I actually weave fabric out of rose gold, yellow gold, or silver wire, and then embed it behind
layers of glass that I fuse. (liquid sloshing) – I sell ghee. It’s a great alternative
to regular cooking oil. The process of making ghee
involves melting down butter, filtering, pouring into jars, cooling, and then getting it ready for labeling and shipping off to Amazon. Selling on Amazon has been instrumental of our success. (tape stretching) – So these are the products that we’re actually
putting in the kits today. We’re able to watch our
sales every single day, look at our inventory levels. – There’s a whole bunch of different tools that have become available to you. You make your inventory,
you send it in, done. (gentle instrumental music) – We are really happy to
be in a small community, and we are continuing
to grow and hire people that are looking for work. – Our small business has been able to prosper and thrive because of Amazon. – They’re the best
business partner I’ve had. Hands down, period. (laughing) (gentle instrumental music)
