Using the Blog site

Using the Blog site

Hello in this presentation I will walk you through creating your first online journal entry in the Google site. When
you follow the link provided in the email that you received, you will arrive at this page. Simply click on the link, Student in Collegiate Context and you will be taken to our Identity Project homepage. On the
left all the names of your course mates are listed in alphabetical order. Each name corresponds to your page and it is within
this page that you will make your respective journal entries. To show you how to make your first journal entry, I will be using the Test Page. When you open your page you will notice this button, New Post. Clicking on it opens a new screen. This is the title of your posting and in this area is where you will add in the body of your post. If you look on top you will notice all the word text editing features available to you. They are very similar to
Microsoft Word and work the same way. The option is there if you want to use them to make your page look different or appealing. This
site also offers the functionality of
inserting pictures Click on the Insert link and choose Image. You upload the image that you would like. Once the uploading is complete, click on
OK and the image appears on the blog posting.
Now if you notice, this picture is pretty big for a webpage. Hence I click on Size Small and the picture is
automatically resized to a much smaller size. I can choose to align my picture and these editing options are all available to you. Once you
have made your entry, click on the Save button and you will notice a little tab that says Publishing. Your
page has now finished publishing and is available online for anyone within our closed network to view. I’d like to draw your
attention to the left where now under test page my first posting called ‘Welcome’ is listed. I can also choose to add another blog posting to this, in which case I go back to my first page
which is Test Page and this page is now my special home
page and I click on new post. Once again I click on Save and once it is published it is now found and the Test Page. If you would like to add comments to the
blog entries of your classmates you are welcome and encouraged to do so. Simply go to the Add a Comment section and make your comment. The reply button allows others to reply to the
comments that you have made as well creating a more enriching and dynamic
environment. I hope this shocked presentation helps you get
started with your blog posting. If you have any doubts
please feel free to contact me, Anita Samuel. My email address has been provided for you in the email you have received. Thank you
