VAHI Annual Forum 2019

VAHI Annual Forum 2019

(upbeat music) – It was a great night. I mean, who would have thought that this many people with
love of data would turn up. We’ve worked with some brilliant staff. We really love what we’re doing. A great team that we have, a great family that we have at VAHI. And, it’s brilliant talking to an audience who appreciate the power
of data and information and what it can do to people’s lives to improve lives across the system. And, that’s what’s so exciting
about the work that we do. Small changes, changes that
we can make to reports, improvements that we
can make to reporting, and make many differences
to the improvements to the health of populations. – Events like this are
really important for us. Over the course of the year,
we hear from our stakeholders, but it’s always individual. It’s emails, it’s quick
touchpoints, all that sort of stuff. When we bring together
stakeholders like this, in this kind of form,
we have an opportunity to reconnect with them and
really help them understand what we’ve achieved, how
we’ve listened to them over the year, and what we’re bringing to them going forward. And, it really just provides us that touchpoint that we so need. – Health status is probably
the most important resource that we have in the healthcare system, particularly in the modern era. It really helps us to understand
what we’re doing well, what we could do better, and what works. And, all of those things are important to improving patient safety. – Safer Care Victoria is
all about improvement. So, in order to improve, you need to know how good you
are and how good you want to be, and how good are you
compared to everyone else. VAHI gives us that. VAHI tells us how good are our
individual health services, how are the individual teams. And then, we work with
health services to say, “This is how good you are. “How good do you want to be?” And, help them get better. (upbeat music)
